(5 reviews)Review of Ba Cissoko
I waited 5 years for this one. In 1999 I saw them
play during Amsterdam Roots festival in the Melkweg Amsterdam. They were a trio then and totally unknown. So they played in a small upperhall for an audience of 200 people who got completely suprised by their smashing performance. Never had I seen such virtuosic kora-and balaphone playing combined with such catchy melodies. At the end everyone was dancing.
At least now they have their long deserved album out and I must say it has it all! What a great and original playing and what a diversity of songs. Amazing really! For me this is the album of the year.
Review of Ba Cissoko
Ba Cissoko is the first exposure I have had to West African music. I downloaded the album after I heard samples from their music on NPR's "All Things Considered." I am completely and unbelieveably impressed with this album. It is one of the best I have ever heard and it has opened my eyes to an intriguing new genre of music. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!

Review of Ba Cissoko
I saw Ba Cissoko early this year in Edinburgh on their 2007 African Soul Rebels tour and out of the two other artists that were performing, Ba Cissoko were by far the most exiting and enjoyable to watch and listen to. This was my first introduction to the Kora instrument which they played to Jimi Hendrix standards. There is a lot of energy in these songs therefore I highly recogmend the album and you will not be dissapointed.....be sure to check out their latest albums when they appear on calabash music.
